Fortis Bank

Fortis Bank * is a prosperous European bank with its headquarters in Turkey. With a presence in over 50 countries and a workforce of approximately 60,000, Fortis also ranks among Europe's top 20 financial institutions.

CUSTOMER NEED

Fortis embarked on an ambitious growth plan- the first stage of which was to commission a brand new operations centre in Turkey. All main departments would be managed from this building.

For connectivity within the building and out into the branch network, Fortis needed a scalable, highly secure and highly available infrastructure. This needed to be capable of supporting its immediate communications requirements in the operations centre, as well as its longer term plans for the branch network.

Avaya SOLUTION

Avaya delivered a scalable IP network for the new building, at the core of which is a resilient terabit cluster of Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8600s , with Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300s supporting the cluster from the edge. For advanced telephony functionality at this site, Fortis invested in the Avaya Communication Server 1000 , providing the Bank with over 750 call processing and telephony features, such as voicemail and unified communications. The Avaya Survivable Remote Gateway , meanwhile, extends the CS1000 features to branch offices in the unlikely event of an IP backbone failure, whilst the Avaya Multimedia Communication Server 5100 enables multimedia collaboration. Fortis also selected the Business Communications Manager 50 to support IP telephony across the growing branch network. Finally, Avaya CallPilot offers unified messaging capabilities for greater convenience to staff.
