HSB Malmö

HSB * is an independent, member-owned organisation in Sweden which builds and manages dwellings for cooperative ownership. The organisation has gone from strength to strength since its foundation in 1925.

Commissioned to construct and maintain the eye-catching Turning Torso * building in the city of Malmö, HSB Malmö decided to move its headquarters to the building as a statement of its innovation and capability.

The company first needed a flexible way for staff to handle tenant queries via phone from anywhere in the new building. Secondly, HSB Malmö wanted to provide leading-edge wireless Internet facilities to the top floors which were to be rented out as conferencing rooms to other businesses. And thirdly, HSB Malmö wanted to do this with a network that was robust, scalable and simple to manage.

HSB Malmö decided to converge its voice and data over a combination of Avaya fixed and wireless LAN technology. To deliver IP telephony to every member of staff, HSB Malmö chose the Avaya Communication Server 1000 combined with Avaya IP Phone 2002s , 2004s and 1100s - as well as the advanced Avaya IP Phone 2007 . Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 5520s enable Power over Ethernet and gigabit connectivity to the desktop.

To help staff stay connected to the desktop at all times, HSB Malmö chose Avaya's WLAN Access Point 2330s . These, combined with the Avaya WLAN Handset 2210s and 2211s , ensure seamless wireless access to IP voice and data services for staff and visitors alike. HSB Malmö also chose the Avaya WLAN Security Switch 2360 , to deliver highly robust and secure switching and Guest Access Provisioning. The Avaya WLAN Management Software 2300 features both traditional and advanced management functionality. Finally, a terabit cluster of Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8600s at the core provides sub-second resilient networking.
